In Outlook 2016 (via citrix) and the list of folders on the left is in a normal font size but the list is double spaced, forcing me to scroll to get what I'm looking for. Royal pain in the behind. Our firm is converting from Lotus Notes to Outlook; double spacing is not an expected 'improvement'.
. Click Window Properties Inspector. Select the multiline text object you want to edit. In the Properties Inspector, under paragraph options, click on Line Spacing More, select one of the following:.
At Least. Adjusts lines of text automatically based on the height of the largest character in the line. More space is added between lines of text with taller characters. This is the default setting.
Forces the line spacing to be the same size for all lines of text regardless of format differences such as font or text height. Change the line spacing by entering a new value for either of the following options.
The two line spacing options provide different ways to set the same thing:. Line Space Factor. Sets the line spacing to a multiple of single-line spacing.
Single spacing is 1.66 times the height of the text characters. Line Space Distance. Sets the line spacing to an absolute value measured in drawing units. Valid values must be between 0.0833 and 1.3333.
Hi, As far as I know, the space between Outlook email folders in the Folder list pane wasn't increased. Please go to Control Panel Display and make sure you didn't make any change to the settings under 'Change only the text size' heading. Especially the Menu option. Please try adjusting it to a proper value and then check if the problem persists. Regards, Steve Fan TechNet Community Support Please mark the reply as an answer if you find it is helpful.

So, I changed it to 9 and hit 'Apply'.
The screen went blank for about 5 seconds with a message 'Please wait' (or similar) and when it came back, the menus looked much better - but the size was still posted as 10 point. So, I again changed it to 9 point and clicked 'apply'.
This time, it all came back much quicker and the menus looked exactly the same as the previous try (still OK). It still looks double spaced but I can see much more on the screen which is what I need. So, my guess is that something in the Office 2016 installation had upset something - the first time I changed the menu size, it reset the line spacing itself and the second time was it actually got its act together and sorted everything out. But it now looks fine, so thanks again. Since Windows 8 was foisted on an unsuspecting public, MS seems to have convinced itself that everyone had touch screens, which is, of course, absurd.
Their software sometimes can see what type of system you have (touch or not); I guess they got very lazy with Outlook, changed it to always favor touch. I spend much of the day in email in Outlook, and this has a big impact on my productivity. And I'd agree with your assessment. But Outlook has gotchas here and there to slow you down; this is one of them. Another odd one (probably complained about by many); when you reply to an email that is already in a folder, it doesn't default to putting the sent message in the same folder, nor does it offer you, as far as I can tell, a setting to do so. So every time before I hit send I have to designate what folder it goes to.
Lotus Notes had this down pat. Another good one; you hit reply in the inbox list, and you can start editing in the preview box.
That would be OK if it didn't block out most of the editing and other options unless you hit pop-up. So you have to pop-up in order to use options. Makes you wonder what Microsoft was thinking on a number of issues.
